From Rivera's Groove Box #234: Jordan Fields - Feelin Music

Here's a true gem. A previously unreleased track from Chicago house producer Jordan Fields. A prolific underground house artist who has recorded tracks for many big and also smaller house labels since the 90s, establishing himself as one of the Windy City's more promising talents. But I still feel he is an unsung hero in the underground scene, giving his substantive contribution to the craft, yet his work is more known for the true die-hard house heads. But everyone who considers themselves a true house music lover, should hear tracks like 'Feelin Music'! Recorderd in 1991 just when the NYC deep garage house sound was emerging, this track seems to be influenced by the many records which came out from the legendary Strictly Rhythm label. But none of these records match the minimal and raw production and sound 'Feelin Music' has. That's probably also the reason the track was unreleased back then - house music tended to sound more polished back then, with record labels hiring studios and sound engineers to work on tracks. Still, this track is an interesting excursion to the house sound the bedroom producers had back then. And while in 1991 this was deemed as something too rough, it fits perfectly with the current wave of 90s garage sounding deep house revival, and also the emerging lo-fi house scene.

From Rivera's Groove Box #233: Swirl People - Call Bert

I like the Swirl People. My favourite deep house duo from Belgium. This track is one of their best, but really - I dig all of their sound. They had their own slow funked out style of house music. Clever samples, chunky beats, rolling basslines. Awesome house music!
