From RIvera's Groove Box #247: Drew Sky - Razzmatazz

An old Classic from 1992! Played often by Moodymann in his DJ sets. The vocals are sampled from Quincy Jones 'Razzamatazz' and the melody is from MFSB 'Sexy'. Very lo-fi sound, basement style, just like lots of producers from Chicago tended to be. After his debut EP Drew Sky went on to release a string of ghetto house style records on Dance Mania, which suited his minimal stripped down sound.

From RIvera's Groove Box #246: Caustic Window - Flutey

Caustic Window is an unreleased album from Aphex Twin. It was produced under the alias Caustic Window. Originally planned for release in 1994, the album was cancelled, with only five copies being produced. One of the copies, which surfaced for sale in 2014, was bought and digitally distributed through a Kickstarter campaign. It was later sold for $46,300 on eBay to the creator of Minecraft. Every penny well spent. I like 'Flutey' the best from this album, it has a melancholic, but very beautiful vibe. It's mechno - melancholic techno, get it? Haha. And what a nice accompanying video by the29nov films.

From RIvera's Groove Box #245: DJ Milton - 909 State

DJ Milton is a pioneering figure in the Chicago ghetto house scene. I don't know for sure if it is true, that he is serving a long prison sentence incarcerated in Illinois, or is it just a rumor. But the man sure knew how to program some tight pounding house beats on drum machines. This track is very minimal and tracky, like the majority of ghetto house tracks, but at the same time, it is also very catchy with its hypnotic synth lines. Definitely among DJ Milton's best hits!

From Rivera's Groove Box #244: Aftershock - Slave To The Vibe (Club Dub)

This my jam right here. A neat garage house groove from the UK with a piano hook which makes your head bob to the beat. There's a thousand garage tracks out there, but they rarely come so perfect as this.
